Piers Morgan tells Donald Trump how to force left into 'political suicide' during trial

Donald Trump has been ordered to attend daily court sessions during his criminal trial but it means missing out on his son’s graduation later this month.

Piers Morgan, speaking on The Five, said that the former President should challenge the judge to skip the courts and attend his son, Barron’s graduation.

New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan told Trump that he would face arrest if he did not attend daily court sessions.

The 2024 Presidential candidate’s historical hush-money trial began on Monday in a Manhattan courtroom and is expected to last about six weeks.

Trump is charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

Morgan said: “Donald Trump should go to his son’s graduation … go to the graduation. Honestly, if you’re watching, President Trump, just go to the graduation.

“Every parent in America, whether they like you or hate you, will go, ‘Yeah, I’d have done that, too.”

Barron Trump is expected to graduate from Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida, later this month.

But at the same time, Trump is scheduled to appear in a New York courtroom 1,200 miles away.

Piers Morgan, who interviewed Trump for Fox Nation in 2022, called the case one of “the most petty, self-harming acts of political suicide I’ve ever witnessed.”

He also called Merchan’s case, brought by New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg, “utterly ridiculous”.

The outspoken TV personality said: “Have you lost your minds, America? What a demeaning way to treat a former president. Secondly, if you’re on the left, why would you think this would possibly work? Why would you not think that what you’re doing here is going to almost guarantee Donald Trump wins the next election?”

Before entering the courtroom during the first day of his trial, on Monday, Trump told reporters the trial was “an assault on America” and “an attack on a political opponent”.
