President Biden dropped a new campaign ad Friday urging supporters of Republican Nikki Haley to vote against former President Trump in the fall general election.
The Biden reelection ad includes a litany of Trump’s nasty tirades against Haley, including his calling her “birdbrain” and an edict that anyone who backed her should be “permanently banned” from his MAGA movement.
“If you voted for Nikki Haley, Donald Trump doesn’t want your vote,” a narrator intones in the 30-second ad running on TV and digital platforms.
Democrats hope that a big chunk of Haley’s Republican supporters will not come home to support Trump in November.
Haley dropped out of the Republican presidential primary contest after being crushed by Trump in the early voting contests and Super Tuesday states.
But the former UN ambassador has so far not endorsed Trump and challenged him to work to earn her supporters’ votes, a plea that he has so far ignored.
She has continued to draw significant support in primaries since dropping out of the GOP race, especially in affluent and politically moderate suburbs that could play an outsized role in November.
