Wheeler Dealers host Mike Brewer has revealed his pick of four used cars under £10,000 with models from Vauxhall and Ford making the list.
However, the host of Wheeler Dealers’ latest World Tour series pointed out the popular Kia brand as his go-to for those on a budget.
Although admitting there were “lots of cars” priced under £10,000 that were “really handy to own”, Mike quickly selected his four standout options for 2024.
Kia
The South Korean brand is slowly becoming one of the most popular brands on UK roads and is Mike’s pick of used cars to buy this year.
Last year saw a record-breaking year for the company with over 107,000 vehicles sold to UK customers.
This put the company as the sixth best-selling brand in the country with sales higher than the 100,000 models which were purchased in 2022.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Mike said: “Anything from the Kia range is really good up to £10,000. I would always say, my customers at my garages, they love their little Kia’s.
“Anything from a GT to a Sedona, whatever it is, it doesn’t matter. People love those cars and from new they come with a ten-year warranty.
“They are likely four or five four years old at £10,000 and they still have five or six years of a manufacturer’s warranty on them, so they are great little bargains.”
AutoTrader, the leading comparison site for new and used vehicles, even has a full range of Kia models on sale for under £5,000.
Vauxhall
Mike has selected the iconic Vauxhall Corsa as another of his picks valued at under £10,000. The popular five-door British hatchback is a staple on UK roads and Mike claims its popularity is one of its biggest selling points.
He explained: “If you have a little Vauxhall Corsa. There’s a Vauxhall garage in every town so if you’ve got a problem with it you can get it fixed.”
The Corsa was the bestselling new car in 2021 with over 40,900 models leaving forecourts over the course of 12 months.
AA Used Cars has a few Corsa models priced at under £8,000 meaning bargains can be found for those on low budgets.
Ford
Mike has pointed out the Fiesta and Focus models as “really good” options for those on a budget. The Fiesta was the top-selling model in the UK market for 12 successive years between 2009 and 2020.
The Focus has a generous 375 litres of boot space making it ideal for families compared to the 292 litres in the Fiesta.
If performance is more your thing, the Fiesta may be better with the ST-Line model offering stiffened suspension while reaching a 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds.
According to AutoTrader, several Fiesta models can be purchased for around the £5,000 mark making this one of the cheaper options available to road users.
