Your PlayStation Plus games for April 2024 are…

Sony has officially announced the PlayStation Plus Essentials line-up for April 2024 on PS4 and PS5. Available to download and play from the morning of April 2, the next batch of PS Plus games are headlined by first-person magic game Immortals of Aveum. Published by Electronic Arts, Immortals of Aveum is a somewhat surprising choice given the game only launched last August. However, despite providing a unique spin on the FPS formula, the game didn’t actually sell very well, so maybe its inclusion is not that surprising after all. As somebody who missed it at launch, I’m intrigued to play Immortals of Aveum, so I’m reasonably happy it’s coming to PS Plus.

The other games joining PlayStation Plus in April are Minecraft Legends and Skul: The Hero Slayer.

Minecraft Legends is described as an action strategy game in which players explore “lush biomes” on the brink of destruction.

Sony explains more: “The ravaging piglins have arrived, and it’s up to you to form alliances with new friends and familiar mobs, then lead the charge in epic battles against the fierce piglins to defend the Overworld.

“You can challenge your friends or team up in intense battles in online play for up to eight players, as you defend your village while leading your units to destroy your opponents’ settlements.”

Finishing up the fantasy-rich line-up is Skul: The Hero Slayer, which is a 2D platform game with rogue-lite elements.

This means that the individual maps and levels will change each time you play, resulting in almost infinite levels of replayability.

Similar to classics like Dynamite Headdy and Puppeteer, lead character Skul’s abilities will change depending on the skulls you equip.

You can equip two skulls at a time, each with their own attack range, speed and power stats.

While it’s not as high profile as the other two games coming to PS Plus in April, Skul: The Hero Slayer has an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating on Steam, so it’s probably the best of the bunch.

With the games coming next week, PS Plus subscribers don’t have long left to grab the current line-up of Sifu, F1 23 and Hello Neighbour 2.
