Woman’s body discovered stuffed in bag in Kips Bay apartment

A 52-year-old woman’s body was horrifyingly found stuffed in a bag in a Manhattan apartment Thursday, police sources said.

After not hearing from her for several days, Nadia Vital’s family headed to the unit she’d been subletting on E. 31st St. near Third Ave. in Kips Bay around 4:30 p.m., according to cops and sources.

The woman’s brother was among a small group that showed up to the building, according to superintendent Jean Pompee, who let them into the apartment.

“When I opened the door, the dog was there [and] the dog was alone,” he told the Daily News. “She wouldn’t have left the dog all alone.”

Vital’s brother and the other men searched around the apartment for the woman.

“They found the bag in the closet,” said Pompee. “They looked in the bag and said it was a woman. They said, ‘You have to go, this is a crime scene.’”

Medics called to the scene pronounced Vital dead in the apartment.

The city Medical Examiner will determine how she died.
