A woman was raped inside her Soho building by a man who passed her on the stairs, police said Monday.
“If you scream, I’ll shoot you,” the attacker told her when he encountered the 23-year-old victim on the second floor of her apartment building about 4:10 a.m. Sunday, cops said.
The rapist was walking down the stairs from the third floor of the building near Thompson and Prince Sts. when he passed by her then turned back and confronted her.
He did not show or simulate a gun but put the victim in a chokehold, then sexually assaulted her before running off, police said.
He was last seen heading downtown on Thompson St. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Cops on Monday released surveillance footage of the suspect and asked the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.
