Woman arrested after stabbing three bouncers during Connecticut bar brawl

A woman defending her brother in a bar brawl stabbed three bouncers at a Southington, Conn., bar early Saturday before being hauled away by police, authorities said.

Heidi Montes, 24, was charged with second-degree assault, interfering with an officer, second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault. She was held on $250,000 bond after a melee that sent two bouncers to the hospital and saw two other people arrested, Southington police told the Daily News on Sunday.

Adrian Montes, 28, and Stuart Chase, 32, were both charged with interfering/resisting arrest and second-degree breach of peace. Adrian Montes was released on $25,000 bond with a promise to appear and Chase was held on the same bond amount and slated for a court appearance Monday. Heidi Montes was also scheduled to appear in court Monday.

The melee started at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police said, when staff at the bar 75 Center tried to break up an argument between Adrian Montes, Chase and another man who was not identified. Before calling police, bouncers guided Montes and Chase to the door, but as the argument spiraled, Chase allegedly punched one of them in the face.

Heidi Montes, the sister of Adrian Montes and a friend of Chase’s, then brandished pepper spray and a wand shank attached to her keychain and threatened the bouncers, following through, according to cops. She allegedly sprayed the bouncer and stabbed him in the face before turning to another bouncer and stabbing him numerous times in the head and neck.

“Heidi caused injury to a total of three bouncers before being taken into custody by police,” Southington police said in a statement. “Two of the bouncers injured were transported for medical treatment. Both are reported to be in good condition, having narrowly escaped potentially life-threatening injuries.”

Cops from Southington, Plainville and Cheshire responded to the incident. While much of it was caught on video surveillance, police are asking the public for any information as they investigate.
