Third suspect arrested in Philly SEPTA bus stop shooting that wounded 8 teens

A third suspect was arrested Tuesday in connection to last week’s shooting at a Philadelphia SEPTA bus stop that wounded eight teens.

Police did not identify the person but told WPVI he had been arrested by U.S. Marshals in North Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon. A hunt continues for a fourth person, one of three who emerged from a stolen blue Hyundai last week, unleashing a hail of gunfire as the bus pulled up.

The person joins two 18-year-olds arrested over the weekend. They were identified Monday as Jamaal Tucker and Ahnile Buggs, both being held on more than $2 million bail and charged with attempted murder and numerous other crimes, one set for each wounded child.

They were identified as the driver of the car and one of the shooters. Police surveillance video showed three masked suspects pouring out of the Hyundai, rounding the corner and firing off at least 30 shots.

The shooting at around 3 p.m. last Wednesday was the fourth in the city’s SEPTA transit system in as many days. The bullets were aimed at Northeast High School students waiting to board the bus home. One of them, a 16-year-old boy who was hit nine times in the torso, was said to be the intended target, WPVI reported.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel highlighted what he said were the life-saving actions of two police officers who applied tourniquets to some of the wounded students.

The investigation is ongoing.

Tucker and Buggs are due in court for preliminary hearings on March 20.
