The “Bear” might take the stage as The Boss, as Jeremy Allen White is in talks to play Bruce Springsteen in a new biopic about the making of his 1982 album, “Nebraska.”
The newly minted Emmy winner, 33, is the first choice to play New Jersey’s favorite son, 74, in “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” per Deadline.
Though he’s reportedly in talks with indie film production company A24, negotiations have not yet begun with the “Shameless” alum, who is currently filming the fourth season of “The Bear.” The Hulu hit finishes filming in Chicago in June.
Penned and helmed by Scott Cooper, the narrative film is an adaptation of Warren Zanes’ 2023 book, “Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Nebraska.’” The 20-time Grammy winner worked on “Nebraska” amid the making of “Born in the USA.”
“If I had to pick one album out and say, ‘This is going to represent you 50 years from now,’ I’d pick ‘Nebraska,’” the “I’m On Fire” and “Dancing in the Dark” crooner told “CBS Sunday Morning” last year.
In 2021, Springsteen’s “Nebraska” ranks at No. 150 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Having broken through with 1975’s “Born to Run,” the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee isn’t slowing down, having released his 21st studio album, “Only the Strong Survive,” in 2022.
Cooper is best known for writing and directing the Oscar-winning films “Crazy Heart,” “Out of the Furnace,” “Black Mass” and, most recently, “The Pale Blue Eye.”
