Search for Texas woman who vanished while walking dog continues after pet is found

The search for a Texas woman who disappeared while walking her dog has turned up her canine companion, though she still remained missing as of Wednesday.

Christina Johnson was last seen on March 6, when she and her 10-year-old pup, Max, set out for a stroll in Houston, according to Texas EquuSearch. On Friday, police confirmed Max was found in a neighborhood on Cedar Creek Drive, which is some seven miles away from Johnson’s home.

While authorities are still searching for 27-year-old Johnson, her father, Emmanuel Johnson, told KHOU he’s feeling an extreme “sense of loss right now.” He emphasized Johnson “always has Max with her,” making it especially troubling that he was found without his owner.

“The fact we find Max, but not her, is very alarming. He’s rough right now,” Emmanuel said, explaining that the pup has been skittish since he arrived back home.

“And he’s been out on his own and he’s a house dog, never been on his own like that,” the concerned father added. “Something ain’t right. Obviously, she’s in danger.”

Emmanuel said his daughter’s daily routine had recently come to include taking her dog and her computer to a nearby Jack in the Box or the Hackberry Community Center, where she would work for the day.

“She usually comes home before the evening but didn’t come back that evening,” he said.

Johnson was “carrying a gray backpack” when she disappeared, police said. She was also sporting black hoodie, blue jean shorts, pink socks, and Crocs, according to Texas EquuSearch.

Anyone with information about Christina’s disappearance is asked to contact Houston police at (832) 394-1840 or Texas EquuSearch at (281) 309-9500.
