Rapper Phat Geez’s fatal shooting in Philadelphia caught on doorbell camera

A Ring doorbell camera captured the moment Philadelphia rapper Phat Geez was fatally shot outside his home over the weekend.

The video clips, obtained by CBS News Philadelphia, show the 28-year-old performer, born Derrick Gant, exiting a residence in Brewerytown. He then walks up to a car parked outside. He appears to exchange words with someone inside the car before the tension escalates and they appear to argue. Gunfire follows just minutes later.

Authorities were called to the scene Saturday night, just after 10 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Phat Geez lying in the street, suffering from several gunshot wounds. Multiple bullet casings were also found nearby.

Geez was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m., police said in a statement.

Authorities have not yet named a suspect or released a description. They’re offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
