Police release video of shooting of 8 teens at Philly SEPTA stop

Authorities have released security camera footage of a Wednesday afternoon shooting at a SEPTA bus stop in Philadelphia. They are now asking the public for help identifying three suspects in the latest incident of gun violence in the city.

The shooting, the fourth this week to occur near a SEPTA bus stop, unfolded in broad daylight at a busy intersection in Northeast Philadelphia. Just before 3 p.m., three men exited a car parked outside a northeast Philadelphia Dunkin’ Donuts, pulled out their guns and opened fire at a group of high school students

The shooting injured eight youths, two of whom are listed in critical condition, authorities said.

“At 2:47 three masked males exited a dark blue Hyundai Sonata and opened fire on a group of juveniles as they waited at a bus stop at Rising Sun Avenue and Cottoman Avenue,” the Philadelphia Police Department said in a statement shared on social media.

At least 30 shots were fired, injuring seven teenage boys and one teenage girl, police said.

The victims, all high school students ranging in age from 15 to 17,  had to be rushed to local hospitals. One 16-year-old was critically wounded after being hit nine times, while authorities said Wednesday afternoon the others were said to be in stable condition.

However, in a later update, police said two of the youths were listed in critical condition.

Later on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Police Department released security footage of the incident urging anyone with information to contact authorities.

All suspects are described as “male, thin build.”

One of them was wearing a black balaclava-style mask with a white Nike swoosh logo on the sides; a long black coat with white front and black North Face logos; black pants with solid white stripes down the sides; and black New Balance sneakers with white logos and soles.

Another person was wearing a black face mask; a black hooded sweatshirt; black sweatpants; high white socks; black New Balance sneakers; and blue gloves.

The third suspect, the rear passenger, was described as wearing a black face mask; black hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants; and light gray sneakers with a dark gray design or logo on the sides and soles that are dark gray on the sides and yellow on the bottom.

Early on Thursday police told NBC Philadelphia the Hyundai Sonata believed to be involved in the shooting had been found in northeast Philly.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect to call or text (215) 686-TIPS, submit a tip via email, or call 911.

The three suspects are considered “armed and dangerous,” police said, warning people not to approach them.
