After the doldrums of lockdown, the past 12 months have seen a dazzling array of shows and performers prove why UK theatre still leads the world.
The 2024 Oliver Award Nominations with Mastercard, announced today, will take place on Sunday 14 April at the Royal Albert Hall, with the highlights also broadcast on ITV the same day.
Major names like Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Scherzinger, David Tennant and James Norton are all up for acting awards. The current trend for one-person shows has also seen Sarah Snook, Andrew Scott and Sheridan Smith rewarded with nominations.
Encouragingly, all the shows nominated, from Dear England and Sunset Boulevard to Macbeth and The Motive and the Cue, have also proved to be a hit with audiences. Special note should go to Operation Mincemeat, the musical sensation that has been carried to West End triumph by word of mouth and the most five-star reviews ever received by a show.
