Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied are officially divorced. The Oscar winner filed last year, amid reports of the choreographer’s infidelity with a younger woman.
A rep for the “May December” star, 42, confirmed to People that the divorce was finalized last month.
Portman petitioned for divorce from the 46-year-old Frenchman — who met on the set of 2010’s “Black Swan” — last July, after 11 years of marriage. Together, they share a son, Aleph, 12, and a daughter, Amalia, 7.
“It was initially really tough for her, but her friends rallied around her and helped her get through the worst of it,” a friend of the couple told the outlet. “Natalie is coming out of a really tough and painful year but she’s come out the other side of it stronger and is finding joy in her family, friends and work.”
Rumors of trouble in the couple’s marriage surfaced in June amid reports that Millepied had stepped out on Portman with a 25-year-old French climate activist.
The affair was “short-lived and it is over,” an insider told People, noting that Millepied “knows he made an enormous mistake and … is doing all he can to get Natalie to forgive him and keep their family together.”
The rumor mill kept churning as Portman was twice seen in August without her wedding ring, including on their wedding anniversary.
A source at the time told Us Weekly that though they were “trying to work on their marriage,” the couple was “currently on the outs.”
In her profile for Vanity Fair’s Annual Hollywood Issue last month, Portman slammed the “terrible” speculation about her personal life, noting she has “no desire to contribute to it.”
