Missing New Jersey woman, 75, found dead beside highway after apparent hit-and-run

A 75-year-old New Jersey woman reported missing on Saturday was found dead beside a highway, the apparent victim of a hit-and-run, authorities confirmed.

Yvrose Germain, of Willingboro, N.J., was discovered Sunday at about 8:15 a.m. alongside Interstate 295, struck by “an unknown vehicle” traveling north, New Jersey State Police told the Daily News on Tuesday.

Officers were responding to a report of a hit-and-run, and Germain was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they’re still investigating and did not divulge whether she’d been on the shoulder or in a travel lane.

The Haitian-Creole-speaking Germain had dementia and left her home on Saturday evening, according to Patch.com. She was considered in danger when she was reported missing.

“It is with heavy hearts that we inform the community that Yvrose Germain has been found deceased,” the Willingboro Police Department said in a statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to her friends, family, and loved ones during this difficult time. We want to thank the community for their assistance and support during the search efforts.”
