McDonald's customers fear cyberattack as widespread outage strikes worldwide

McDonald’s customers worry there may have been a cyberattack on the store’s systems as widespread outage strikes worldwide.

Technical glitches have hit McDonald’s restaurants worldwide, leaving customers unable to place orders.

Reports from various countries, including Japan, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, indicate widespread issues.

In Japan, the fast-food giant acknowledged a “system failure” and advised patrons to be patient while they work to resolve the problem.

In the UK, users have also noted their local stores have been affected.

“All McDonald’s in Eastbourne closed due to technical issues. Has McDonald’s been hit by a cyberattack?” One user tweeted.

Another speculated that the potential motive behind it: “There is a possibility that the cause of McDonald’s system failures around the world was a cyber attack by Russia or pro-Hamas groups!?”

With approximately 3,000 stores in Japan, McDonald’s assured customers that efforts are underway to swiftly restore normal operations.

Meanwhile, Downdetector, a service that monitors IT issues in businesses, recorded a surge in problems with the McDonald’s UK app, beginning early Friday morning.

Similar reports of disruption emerged from customers in Australia via Reddit.

Despite the growing frustration among patrons, McDonald’s has not yet provided details on the extent of the technical difficulties or when full service is expected to resume.
