Marvel's Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus and Suits release date countdown

Fans of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have the perfect excuse to revisit the game, as Sony gets ready to add a New Game Plus mode to the PS5 exclusive. Nearly six months after the launch of the smash-hit PlayStation 5 game, developer Insomniac has finally finished work on the new game mode, which increases the difficulty, all the while adding Ultimate Levels, Golden Gadget styles and more. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus mode launches as part of update 1.002, which has a March 7 release date on PS5. There’s no exact launch time, but fans can expect the update to drop at around midday.

As part of New Game Plus, players will be able to carry their unlocked abilities and Suits over to the second playthrough.

Speaking of Suits, Insomniac will add new Suit styles for Peter’s symbiote story suits, which will give players the ability to further customise their character’s appearance. You’ll even be able to set the colour of your symbiote abilities.

That’s on top of the release of a couple of full-fledged new outfits, as the Marvel Hellfire Gala suits join the game.

Sony explains more: “Peter sports the design created by Russell Dauterman, and Miles gets his iconic look from Bernard Chang’s gorgeous Hellfire Gala variant cover for Miles Morales: Spider-Man #8.”

Sony has partnered with gaming charity Gameheads to release other Suits as paid DLC for a limited-time.

The Gameheads Pack contains the Fly Suit for Peter, the Fresh Suit for Miles, ten Photo Mode Stickers and two Photo Mode frames.

It’s worth pointing out that the Gameheads Pack will be available for free at a later date. Fans are instead being charged for early accecss to the content, with proceeds being donated to the charity.

In addition to new content, update 1.002 brings new features to the Photo Mode, adding an action figure mode and stickers.

“You’ll also be able to change the time of day once you complete the story, allowing you to get all those cool Photo Mode shots with just the right lighting,” Sony continues.

Finally, fans can expect “major updates for Accessibility”, including Audio Descriptions and Screen Reader.

Other Accessibility tweaks include Cinematic Captions and High Contrast Outlines, with Insomniac hinting at even more features to come.

Daily Express will be back with the patch notes on March 7.
