Man reading book stabbed by stranger in NYC Port Authority Bus Terminal attack

A man waiting for a bus at Manhattan’s Port Authority Bus Terminal early Monday was stabbed and wounded by a stranger in an unprovoked attack, police source said.

The 65-year-old victim was sitting reading a book in the Greyhound area of the busy Midtown station when he was stabbed multiple times in the neck and arm about 5:40 a.m., police said.

Michael McCloskey, 42, of Watsonville, Calif., was arrested inside the terminal on W. 42nd St. and Eighth Ave., according to police. He is expected to be charged with attempted murder, assault and weapon possession.

Medics took the victim to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. He is from New Jersey, according to police sources.

According to NYPD data, there have been 169 felony assaults so far this year in the Midtown South Precinct where the Port Authority Bus Terminal is located, down from 172 by this time last year.
