Human remains found in home once occupied by missing Pennsylvania woman

Remains found in an eastern Pennsylvania home owned by missing woman Debra Fox are in fact human, the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office confirmed this week, but the missing woman’s daughters said their mother moved from that house last summer and was last seen living in a hotel.

“I haven’t seen her since November,” Melissa Fox told local station WNEP. “I left the hotel, and she was there, and after that, nothing.”

Melissa and her sister Danielle have reportedly been working with investigators since those unidentified remains were discovered a few weeks ago. Danielle said uncertainty about her missing mother’s whereabouts has taken a toll on her mental health.

Police are continuing their search for the missing woman. It’s not clear who most recently occupied the Wilkes-Barre home being investigated.

“We’re hoping to find her safe,” Melissa said.

She claims to have heard several “stories” about her mother’s possible status in recent months, but nothing concrete.

WNEP calls the missing woman the home’s “former owner.”
