Harry Kane exposes Jamie Carragher live on TV as pundit caught telling lies

But Kane was quickly asked to clarify some comments that Carragher had made earlier in the show, when he told the CBS panel that he had called Kane before the striker bagged a brace in their last 16 European tie.

Host Kate Abdo centred the conversation on Carragher’s relationship with Kane, as the Liverpool icon already began to look nervous. “Before we do anything, I think we should clear something up because Jamie said earlier in the pre-game that he called you and spoke to you this week – is that true or false?” Abdo asked Kane.

Kane, slightly reluctant to answer the question in fear of exposing Carragher, apologetically replied: “Erm that is false.” To which Abdo and fellow pundits Micah Richards and Thierry Henry broke out into laughter at the idea that their colleague lied about their chat, as Carragher pleaded: “H, don’t do this to me!

“I’m telling everyone in America that we’re friends, that we’ve got a great relationship. I can’t believe you have just done that to me!”

After digging out Carragher, Kane then explained further: “We are friends but I’m not going to lie on national TV!” When pulled up on whether Carragher actually had Kane’s phone number, the 30-year-old replied: “We exchange messages on Twitter, you know. Twitter friends.”

Amid raucous laughter in the CBS studio, Carragher said: “See Kate, we’re Twitter friends!” and Kane on X (formerly known as Twitter) posted the exchange with several laughing emojis and the caption: “Sorry @Carra23 the truth will always come out.”

In a turbulent season for Bayern, Kane showed up when it mattered as they desperately needed to avoid a surprise Champions League exit, having lost the first leg 1-0 to Lazio in Roma.

The former Tottenham striker opened the scoring in the 39th minute by turning in Raphael Guerreiro’s scuffed shot, just moments after Ciro Immobile missed a free header in front of goal that would have doubled the visitors’ lead on aggregate.

Instead, Thomas Muller gave Bayern the advantage in the tie for the first time on the stroke of half-time. Kane then sealed their place in the quarter-finals with his 33rd goal of the season, tapping home Leroy Sane’s parried shot, before exposing Carragher on national TV in the United States in a successful evening for the England skipper.
