Gypsy Rose Blanchard files restraining order against Ryan Anderson amid divorce

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has requested a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband, just weeks after announcing their split.

Blanchard is also asking Ryan Anderson, a Louisiana special education teacher, to pay interim and long-term spousal support, per documents obtained by People.

According to Blanchard’s lawyers, she should not have to pay him spousal support because she’s the one “in need” while Anderson “has ability to pay.”

They also claim Blanchard is not the one “at fault for the dissolution of marriage.”

The couple’s separation was announced on March 28, but Blanchard didn’t officially file for divorce until April 8. She and Anderson had only spent three months together after Blanchard, 32, was released from prison just ahead of New Year’s Eve.

The former couple wed in June 2022, while Blanchard was still serving an eight year sentence for convincing her then-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to murder her abusive mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.

Last week, friends of Blanchard’s told People she had grown fearful of Anderson as their relationship dissolved, anticipating “he was going to hit her.”

“He got in her face and screamed,” said Nadiya Vizier, a 22-year-old tattoo artist and close friend, who claimed there was one night when Blanchard became so scared she hid herself in the bathroom and called a relative to pick her up.

“He didn’t [hit her] — but that happened in the past with her mother. So, her first instinct was to tighten up and be prepared,” Vizier said. “Ryan is a big guy, and she told me it was really scary.”

Vizier claimed Anderson had become more controlling over the course of her friend’s marriage.
