Giants re-sign defensive weapon Isaiah Simmons, agree to terms with RB Dante Miller

The Giants re-signed defensive weapon Isaiah Simmons on Friday and agreed to terms with former South Carolina running back Dante Miller.

Simmons, 25, was effective in strategic usage under previous defensive coordinator Wink Martindale last season, particularly as a blitzer and in coverage against running backs.

He lined up at defensive line, edge, linebacker and safety at various points during the year.

The former top 10 pick’s season was highlighted by his game-sealing pick-six in a late season win at Washington.

GM Joe Schoen originally acquired Simmons for a seventh-round pick from the Arizona Cardinals in a trade last August.

It remains to be seen whether new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen will unlock Simmons as effectively. New Giants outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen did coach Simmons from 2020-22 in the same role with the Arizona Cardinals.

The Giants have agreed to terms with Miller at running back, meanwhile, and his signing is conditional on him taking a physical.

He played at Columbia (2018-21) and South Carolina (2022) in college. He had 809 rushing yards and four TDs in his best season. He was listed at 5-9, 200 pounds in college.
