FIA issue statement in wake of Mohammed Ben Sulayem allegations as chief in the spotlight

The FIA have released a statement after chief Mohammed Ben Sulayem was accused of trying to withdraw the licence for last year’s Las Vegas Grand Prix just days before the event took place. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen ran out a worthy winner at the track, though the race may not have taken place if Ben Sulayem reportedly had his way.

A statement from the FIA read: “FIA confirms that the Compliance Officer has received a report detailing potential allegations involving certain members of its governing bodies. The Compliance Department is assessing these concerns, as is common practice in these matters, to ensure that due process is meticulously followed.”
