Dominic Solanke injury latest as Bournemouth boss provides worrying update

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has provided a worrying update that leaves talisman Dominic Solanke as a doubt for the Cherries’ upcoming Premier League fixtures. They host Sheffield United on Saturday to kick off a four-match home run but could be without their star striker.

Solanke was left out of Bournemouth’s squad as they crashed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Championship side Leicester in the fifth round, but did return to play almost the entirety of their 2-0 win away to Burnley on Sunday.

But the 26-year-old has been nursing a knee issue and will need to be managed over the next few games, with matches against bottom-half rivals Sheffield United, Luton, Everton and Crystal Palace to come over the next month.

“Dom is in a similar position to this past week,” Iraola said. “He hasn’t trained fully with the team, we are trying to put him in the best positions to play tomorrow. Hopefully he’ll train normally this evening with his feelings we will take the decision much like we did last week.

“He’s been playing through pain, sometimes its better, sometimes it’s worse. We’re trying to manage it with these two games we have, we don’t want to put too much training on him.

“He (is) someone who has played and trained a lot of minutes, he’s been very robust this season and maybe he doesn’t need to train as much as other players. I hope he can play as many minutes as he can but it’s something we’re dealing with.”
