Cut through hob grease in 10 minutes with expert’s ‘magic’ 28p homemade solution

Stains from cooking on hobs are harder to clean once they’ve dried, so leaving them to clear up later isn’t ideal.

But according to property expert Terry Fisher of We Buy Any Home, there’s a “simple, budget-friendly way” to get kitchen hobs gleaming using two everyday household items.

He said: “A sparkling hob not only enhances the aesthetics of your kitchen but can also play a pivotal role in attracting potential buyers.”

The secret lies in the combination of white vinegar and baking soda, creating a dynamic duo that “effortlessly lifts stubborn stains”.

Terry recommends grabbing yourself with one cup of vinegar, two tablespoons of baking soda, a microfibre cloth, water and a spray bottle.

The expert said: “The beauty of this hack is its simplicity and accessibility. Anyone can achieve a spotless hob without resorting to harsh chemicals.”

Breaking down the cleaning process, Terry said: “Spray the affected areas generously with white vinegar.

“Follow up by sprinkling two tablespoons of baking soda over the wet surface. Let this dynamic duo sit for about 10 minutes, allowing them to work their magic.”

Then, using a damp microfibre cloth, gently scrub the stains in a circular motion. Finally, wipe the surface clean with a damp cloth to remove any residue.

You can easily pick up a bottle of white vinegar for just 35p at Tesco and a tub of baking soda will only set you back around 65p.

By combining these affordable household items, you can create a ”powerful cleaning hack” that costs you roughly 28p each time you use it, according to the expert.

Terry emphasised the gentle nature of this method so it revitalises the hob’s surface “without the risk of damage or scratches”.

He also noted that having a stain-free hob is a significant advantage when appealing to potential buyers.

The expert said: “In today’s competitive real estate market, details matter. A well-maintained induction hob signals to potential buyers that the home has been cherished and cared for.”

He added that a well-maintained kitchen is a selling point that could potentially accelerate the sale of a home.
