Cops looking for rapist who forced his way into East Harlem woman’s apartment

Police are searching for a man who raped a woman in her East Harlem apartment, cops said Wednesday.

Taylor Quamae, 32, forced his way into the 34-year-old woman’s home around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, according to authorities.

The man raped the victim and then took off on foot.

A police spokesperson could not clarify whether or not the victim knew her attacker.

Cops on Wednesday released images of Quamae in the hopes someone may recognize him. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.

So far this year, two people have been the victim of a rape in the NYPD’s 23rd precinct. The figure marks a downtick from the same time frame last year, when four people had reported a rape to police, according to data released Sunday.

Reports of rape citywide are down this year, with 261 incidents reported so far this year compared to 285 in 2023, the data shows.

Rape continues to be underreported, according to police.
