Connecticut daycare fire injures 2 kids, 4 adults including firefighters

Two children and four adults — including two firefighters — were injured Thursday in a fire at a Connecticut home daycare.

The fire broke out just before 9 a.m. at a home in Brookfield. Officials said two children and two adults were in the home when firefighters arrived. Firefighters arrived and found heavy fire coming from attic.

The adults and children were all taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Two of the town’s volunteer firefighters were also injured. One was treated at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital with a minor injury.

Assistant fire chief Jesse Fry told the Danbury News Times the hospitalizations were precautionary.

The fire caused significant damage to the home’s attic. The rest of the house was damaged by smoke and water and it was ruled inhabitable.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the fire marshal and the American Red Cross is assisting the residents.
