Christian Horner accuser 'paying hundreds of thousands and hires David Cameron ally'

The Red Bull employee who accused Christian Horner of inappropriate behaviour is reportedly spending a small fortune each month to pursue her case against the team principal. Last month, the 50-year-old was cleared following an internal investigation, but that didn’t prove the end of the matter with the complainant then launching an appeal against the verdict.

According to the Mail the female, who has not been named, is paying legal bills running into hundreds and thousands of pounds. She is working with law firm Goodwin Procter, who are based in Boston in the US, after parting ways with the services of UK firm Lewis Silkin.

But the costs reportedly don’t end there. It is claimed the employee has now hired Giles Kenningham, who has previously served as head of press for David Cameron when he served as Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street.

Cameron, who has now returned to the Government as as Foreign Secretary, awarded Kenningham an MBE in 2016 in his resignation honours, for political and public service. He has since gone on to set up his own PR Agency and co-host his own podcast, Hacks and Flaks podcast.

And Kenningham’s services do not come cheap. Reportedly, an F1 insider has claimed the employee would be paying between £15,000 and £20,000 a month, underlining her determination to get the verdict overturned.

She is currently suspended from working at the Red Bull factory in Milton Keynes. Red Bull have since declined to reveal any details of the enquiry or reasoning behind the verdict.

For Horner meanwhile, it has been business as usual throughout the controversy. And after being cleared, he insisted his focus in his role had not been affected.

“I will not comment on anonymous speculation, but to reiterate I have always denied the allegations,” he said. “I respected the integrity of the independent investigation and fully cooperated with it every step of the way.

“It was a thorough and fair investigation conducted by an independent specialist barrister, and it has concluded dismissing the complaint made. I remain fully focused on the season.”
