The brother of Louisiana State University women’s basketball star Flau’jae Johnson was released from jail on Monday after being charged with assault for joining a chaotic brawl during the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
Trayron Milton, 24, was booked in Greenville, S.C., on charges of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. He posted $1,087 bail and was released Monday, the Lafayette Daily Advertiser reported.
Milton leapt from the stands and onto the court after South Carolina star Kamilla Cardoso shoved Johnson to the ground in the final minutes of the SEC Championship Game on Sunday.
Milton jumped over the scorer’s table by pushing down on a woman’s head and stepping on her shoulders, the Greenville News reported, citing police. The assault charge was connected to those alleged actions, which were not captured on any video shown during the television broadcast.
The fracas began when Johnson fouled South Carolina’s MiLaysia Fulwiley with around two minutes left in the game as South Carolina led 73-66.
While Johnson was walking back to her team’s bench, multiple South Carolina players taunted her. Johnson responded by shoving one of them, Ashlyn Watkins.
Cardoso then ran over and pushed Johnson to the ground, prompting Milton to hop out of his seat and several players and coaches on both sides to rush toward each other.
Though Milton quickly reached Cardoso after leaping onto the court, he just lightly touched her before a police officer escorted him out of the building.
After a lengthy delay, South Carolina went on to win the game 79-72. The Gamecocks are now 32-0 and expected to be the No. 1 seed in the women’s NCAA Tournament.
