Body found in Connecticut river sparks suspicious death investigation

An investigation was underway in Connecticut on Tuesday after authorities discovered a body in the Hockanum River.

Offers were called to the water, near Hilliard Street and New State Road in Manchester, on Monday around 3:30 p.m., according to a press release from the Manchester Police Department. When they arrived on the scene, they located a body in the river and called the Manchester Fire Department to assist with the retrieval efforts, CT Insider reported.

The medical examiner also responded to the scene.

Police have so far provided few details about the remains of the man recovered from the river. They have since said they are investigating his death as suspicious.

The body was taken to the medical examiner’s office as investigators work to learn more about the person as well as his cause of death.

“Investigators are working to identify the deceased and the events leading up to the discovery of the body,” Manchester police said.
