Ben Platt to play 3-week residency at Manhattan’s Palace Theatre

Broadway star Ben Platt is scheduled to play a three-week, 18-performance concert residency this spring at Times Square’s freshly renovated Palace Theatre.

Platt, a stirring vocalist known for his Tony-winning turn in “Dear Evan Hansen” and his Tony-nominated role in last year’s revival of “Parade,” is set to play the Palace Theatre from May 28 to June 15, according to a news release.

Once a cinema, the century-old Palace Theatre has been closed since 2018 but is set to reopen this spring after refurbishments. It is unclear whether Platt will be the first performer to play the reopened venue.

Through the years, the theater has hosted many formidable singers, including Elvis Presley, Diana Ross, Liza Minnelli and Judy Garland.

“It is far beyond my wildest imagination to play a residency of my own music in a house as storied as the Palace,” Platt said in a statement.

“My hope is to bridge the musical theater roots that I hold so dear with the world of classic Americana songwriting that I’ve fallen so deeply in love with,” he added. “I mean, Liza! Judy! ‘Dreams come true’ doesn’t even begin to cover it!’”

Platt has a new studio album, “Honeymind,” due out May 31.
