‘Bachelorette’ star Rachel Lindsay regrets not having prenup amid ‘messy’ divorce

Former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay has admitted she regrets not getting a prenuptial agreement as she works to finalize of her divorce from Bryan Abasolo.

Revealing that things have been “unnecessarily messy” amid the estranged couple’s split, the trailblazing TV personality said she wishes she took better precautions before they tied the knot.

“The reason I didn’t is because the place that I’m in now —  financially, however you want to define it — is totally different than when I got married. We were more leveled,” she explained on the newest episode of the “Hidden Gems” podcast.

“We weren’t on the same page with prenups,” she added. “I just didn’t want it to be a bigger issue. So, we don’t have one.”

The 39-year-old lawyer, who first rose to fame as a finalist on season 21 of “The Bachelor,” and Abasolo — a chiropractor known as “Dr. Abs” — called it quits on New Year’s Eve 2023.

Abasolo, 44, filed for divorce in January citing “irreconcilable differences.”

The pair met in 2017 when Lindsay became the lead of the wildly popular “Bachelorette” spinoff, and wed two years later in Mexico.

The future divorcee is now an advocate on pre-marital contracts — by any means necessary.

“I think every person should have a prenup,” she said. “I could have never predicted that in 2024 I would be getting a divorce. You just never know what life’s gonna throw at you, what’s gonna happen. … And it’s not unsexy, and it doesn’t mean you’re planning for a divorce. It’s just smart.”

Lindsay offered a good reason for her change of heart: “The person you marry is not the same person you divorce.”

“I’m talking about myself too,” she noted. “I’m not the same that I was when I got married. You’re just not. … You’re dealing with dissolving a marriage and you’re two different people. And my mistake is expecting that the people will handle it in the same way, and they just don’t.”
