A 2-year-old boy and his 1-year-old brother were critically injured in a Washington Heights fire, authorities said Thursday.
Five victims were rescued from at least two apartments in the six-story building on Audubon Ave. near W. 175th St.
The blaze broke out about 10:55 p.m. Wednesday in a fifth-floor apartment above a street-level restaurant, the Emergency Snack Bar Plus.
It took nearly 60 firefighters an hour to bring the fire under control.
The two young brothers were clinging to life Tuesday.
Their sister, 8, was less badly hurt and was treated for smoke inhalation. Another girl, also 8, and her mother, 28, were also treated for smoke inhalation, police said.
The 2-year-old boy and his older sister were taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia, police said.
The other victims were taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell, where the 1-year-old is in critical condition and the others are in stable condition, police said.
The cause of the Wednesday night fire is still under investigation.
