Arrest made after doorbell camera records suspected kidnapping in Oregon

Authorities in Oregon have arrested a man they say can be seen on a Blink doorbell video abducting a terrified woman as she desperately calls out for help.

The kidnapping happened on Sunday around 10:45 p.m. at a home near Southeast 32nd Avenue and East Main Street in Hillsboro, KATU reported. In a shocking clip recorded by a home security camera, a woman can be seen ringing the front door bell and knocking before she’s approached from behind by a man, prompting her to scream.

“Help! Please help, me!” she cries out as she’s hauled away by her bearded assailant. He can then be seen forcing her inside a white pickup and driving off into the night.

A woman who lives at the home, identified only as Marisol, told KATU that neither she nor her mother heard the desperate pleas. They did hear knocking, though, so they decided to check their security camera.

“The event happened at 10:48. We didn’t know about it until maybe 10:55, and at 10:59, I called 911, and they showed up pretty quick, in like 10 to 15 minutes,” said Marisol, adding that no one in her family knows either person in the video.

Authorities on Monday called on the Hillsboro community for help and then confirmed a suspect was taken into custody early Tuesday morning. He was charged with kidnapping.

Police said the victim was also found safe.

Neither of their identities have been released, but Hillsboro police said the “suspect and victim knew each other,” noting it was “not a random attack.”

“There is no danger to public,” authorities added.
