4th suspect ID’d in Philadelphia shooting of 8 teens at SEPTA bus stop

Authorities in Philadelphia have identified a fourth suspect being sought in connection with a shooting at a SEPTA bus stop, which left eight teenagers wounded.

Asir Boone, 17, is wanted on attempted murder and related charges, the U.S. Marshals Service in Philadelphia revealed Wednesday. The announcement came one week after gunfire erupted at the intersection of Cottman and Rising Sun avenues in the Burholme section of the city. Police said four gunmen in a stolen Hyundai unleashed more than 30 rounds at a SEPTA bus on the afternoon of March 6, shortly after school had let out for the day.

The area was crowded with students, among them eight from Northeast High School, who were wounded in the shooting. The victims ranged in age from 15 to 17. They’re all currently listed in stable condition, including a 16-year-old who was struck nine times.

Within hours of the bus stop violence, officers managed to locate the vehicle involved, which they subsequently linked to 18-year-old Jamaal Tucker. He surrendered to authorities on Friday. A second suspect, 18-year-old Ahnile Buggs, was arrested the following day. Police said a search of a location associated with Buggs turned up a .40-caliber Glock that matched casings found at the scene.

They’re being held on the same charges, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, weapons offenses and other charges.

On Wednesday, a third suspect — 19-year-old Jermahd Carter — was also taken into custody by U.S. Marshals. He too has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and related crimes.

Boone is described as 5-foot-6, about 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

“A deadline has come and gone for Asir Boone to turn himself in,” Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “We are now asking for the public’s assistance to further our investigation while also warning that anyone supporting Boone’s flight will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
