3 women, dog found dead in 2 North Las Vegas apartments; suspect shot by police

Three women and a dog were found dead in two separate apartments in North Las Vegas, according to police, who also confirmed the suspect was fatally shot by authorities.

Police were called on Tuesday around 3:15 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 2200 block of E. Nelson Avenue to investigate reports of shots fired, ABC News reported. When officers arrived on the scene, they immediately encountered an armed man in the courtyard area of the residential property.

“Officers gave him multiple verbal commands to drop the firearm, but he ignored the commands and continued to walk toward them,” the North Las Vegas Police Department said. “Two officers then discharged their duty firearms, striking the man.”

He was pronounced dead on the scene. His name has not been released.

Following the gunfire, authorities searched the nearby apartment buildings for potential victims. They subsequently found the bodies of three women and a dog in two different apartments. The victims have not been identified and their causes of death were not provided.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office said it will release that information once their next of kin have been notified.

It’s also unclear whether the women had any relationship with or knew the suspect.

The officer-involved shooting was the first for the North Las Vegas Police Department in 2024. Per policy, the names of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours.
