18-year-old woman killed, man critically injured in East Harlem shooting

A young woman was killed and a man was left clinging to life after they were shot in the head on an East Harlem street Sunday, police said.

Gunfire rang out at the corner of E. 128th St. and Lexington Ave. just after 7:25 p.m., according to cops.

When police arrived, they discovered an 18-year-old woman and a man in his twenties both suffering from gunshot wounds to the head.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene and the man was rushed to Harlem Hospital in critical condition.

A witness recalled hearing two gunshots as cops scoured for surveillance video Sunday night.

“They happened like at the same time,” said nearby deli employee Amir Mohammed, who hears gunshots in the neighborhood “from time to time.”

It was not immediately clear why the victims were targeted as police continued to investigate the fatal shooting.

The woman’s name was not released as police worked to notify her family of the death.

There were no immediate arrests.
