Yves Bissouma lured by 'gang wanting selfie' before star tear gassed and robbed

The masked gang that tear gassed and robbed Yves Bissouma on Sunday morning at first acted as if they wanted to pose for photos with the Tottenham star, according to reports. Bissouma’s £260,000 watch was stolen as part of the mugging, which saw his holiday in France cut short.

Bissouma and his girlfriend were targeted by two men when they arrived at the five-star Majestic Barriere hotel in Cannes at 4am. The 27-year-old originally sought refuge inside the hotel but he was forced into a confrontation upon discovering that the doors were locked.

A luxury Richard Mille watch worth more than a quarter of a million pounds was reportedly taken, as well as three diamong rings ripped off Bissouma’s partner’s fingers.

A local police source told The Sun: “They were clearly part of a very well organised gang. Both were waiting outside the hotel, and struck when the couple were dropped off by a chauffer-driven limousine at about 4am.

“At first the men acted as is they want to pose for photographs with the star, but then it became clear they were wearing masks. The couple tried to get into the hotel, but were confronted with a locked door, and then gas was sprayed in their faces. A Richard Mille watch was taken, along with three diamond rings, before the men escaped in a Renault Megane.”

Bissouma was so shaken up by the incident that he and his girlfriend are believed to have cut their trip short and returned to London the following day.
