Yankees place Giancarlo Stanton on 10-day IL

Giancarlo Stanton is headed to the injured list.

The Yankees placed the slugger on the 10-day IL on Sunday with a left hamstring strain, a day after he left Saturday night’s win against the Braves.

Stanton appeared to grimace as he rounded third base while scoring in the fourth inning of the 8-3 victory.

Trent Grisham then pinch-hit for the designated hitter in the bottom of the sixth.

It’s the first IL stint of the season for Stanton, whose history of leg injuries with the Yankees include a left hamstring strain last season and another in 2020.

The Yankees on Sunday called up infielder Oswald Peraza from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fill Stanton’s roster spot.
