The woman, who is in her 30s, was punched and kicked when she refused to let go of her beloved pet, reports Yorkshire Live. She was walking her Shih Tzu in a park in Bradford, West Yorkshire, on Tuesday March 30 when she was confronted.
Three males approached the victim from behind in a poorly lit part of the park. One of the men shouted at the woman for to hand over her dog but she refused.
Police say the victim was then kicked and punched her in the ribs and face.
But she managed to protect her pooch, and flee the scene with the pet. The woman was left with severe bruising and is also mentally scarred.
The suspects are described as all male, with English accents and around 5ft 7ins.
West Yorkshire Police want anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any further information to contact the force via 101 quoting crime reference number 13210158572 or online.
