Wolves ‘plot to relaunch Adama Traore contract talks but could cash-in during January window’ if Spaniard keeps refusing extension… with Tottenham, Barcelona, Liverpool and Chelsea monitoring him

  • Tottenham had two bids for Adama Traore turned-down by Wolves this summer
  • The Spanish winger has started the season in superb form for the Molineux side
  • Traore has refused to enter talks of a contract extension for the last year
  • His deal runs out in 2023, and Wolves are willing to sell if he keeps dodging talks

Wolves will consider offloading Adama Traore in January if the in-form winger does not sign a contract extension, according to reports, as he continues to avoid talks.

The Spaniard has come into the season close to his havoc-causing best, with the Premier League’s fastest man looking sharp despite Wolves suffering back-to-back-to-back 1-0 defeats to start the season.

Tottenham inflicted one of those losses, all while their new boss Nuno Espirito Santo plotted to poach Traore from his former club.

Traore is inside two years from the 2023 expiry of his contract and he’s reportedly targeting a step up to a team competing in Europe.

Having watched Bruno Lage come in and quickly establish Traore as a key man in his Wolves XI, the club now want to push for a new long-term deal, according to the Birmingham Mail.

However, the Fosun Group owners won’t sit by and watch the Spanish star run his contract down, and will aim to cash-in on the player in one of the 2023 transfer windows.

Tottenham held the strongest interest in August, submitting £5m and a last-minute £30m bid that were turned away with Wolves valuing the 25-year-old at £50m.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is also a known admirer of the powerhouse winger, while Chelsea were also linked with Traore this summer.

A return Barcelona, where he spent his youth at the Catalans’ La Masia talent factory,  is also favoured by Traore. Speaking back in June amid links to Spain, he said: ‘Barcelona is my home. I grew up there, and was there for 10 years.

‘I have to discuss things with my agents, and see what role Barca needs for a return.’

In the meantime, Lage looks determined to have Traore at the heart of his attacking plan at Wolves.

The former Aston Villa man tore through Manchester United’s defence at Molineux  last weekend, but West Midlands side were unlucky to wind-up defeated after creating an avalanche of chances.
