Window cleaning is the least favoured chore for many as it can take a while and often many products are needed for the task.
However, cleaning experts behind the TikTok account @thecleaupcompany claim you only need to use one thing to get “shiny” and “streak-free” windows – washing up liquid.
They started the video by saying: “Oh my god, this is the best cleaning hack ever. So to clean windows, you don’t need no window cleaner, all you need is Fairy Liquid (washing up liquid) – it’s literally incredible.”
Showing windows with a “couple of marks” on them, the cleaner got to work applying the dish soap to a damp microfibre cloth and rubbed it all over the window.
The Fairy liquid was then bugged away with a dry microfibre cloth which left behind “brilliant” results.
They said: “It’s absolutely incredible. I won’t ever use standard window cleaner again because this just works. Streak-free. Look how fast it works.”
Taking to the comments section, fellow cleaning enthusiasts shared their thoughts’ @petersgirl01 claimed: “I’ve been doing this for 40 years.”
@philipsann88 said: “Same, always cleaned windows this way.” @stephenpayne522 commented: “I use washing up liquid but use a spray bottle diluted with water so you get less streaks.”
@michelleboom wrote: “This works like magic and it takes me less than 15 seconds to do my bedroom windows.”
@joannehughes2615 said: “This is how I always do my windows, haven’t bought window cleaner in over 10 years.”
@johns8870 claimed: “Window cleaners use washing up liquid most of the time. That’s what I did when I was a window cleaner.”
This tip doesn’t just clean windows it also prevents a key problem households struggle with during cold weather – condensation. @losingwithlouise wrote: “Brilliant for keeping condensation away as well.”
@cenab said: “Stops condensation as well. Try it on your car windscreen too.”
@lousonyak replied: “You should do this when condensation is on the windows. It works wonders.”
The cleaner claimed that this hack can also be used for your shower screens, mirrors and shiny glossy tiles.
