Microsoft is advising people running these versions of Windows 10 that they’ll need to upgrade to Windows 10 May 2020 Update or October 2020 Update.
If you’re in this group of affected Windows 10 users you should have received a pop-up message which says: “Your version of Windows 10 will reach end of service soon. Click to download a newer version of Windows 10 to stay supported”.
However, as Windows Latest reported, some Windows 10 users have reported that they can’t upgrade when they click on this notice.
The reason behind this is compatibility issues and safeguards which has caused the major updates not to be delivered to some machines.
As one affected Windows 10 user reported they had received a message when they tried to update which said: “The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. Once your device is ready, you’ll see the update available on this page”.
If you are running Windows 10 version 1909 or below and don’t have the option to update then you’ll have to upgrade manually.
