Will there be a time jump in Virgin River season 3?

Virgin River fans are keen to find out Jack’s fate after he was attacked at his own bar at the end of season two.

He had just started to make progress in his relationship with nurse Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and had visited the bar to grab some food for them both.

When he did not return, Mel went to the bar to find him laying on the floor on the brink of death.

As one of the main characters he is likely to pull through, but viewers are still keen to find out how season three will play out.

Showrunner Sue Tenney has previously spoken of a significant time jump ahead of the new season.

She told TVLine how the main plot of season three would follow the characters as they attempt to find out who shot Jack.

This storyline could play out over several seasons, so Jack’s killer may not be exposed until much later.

She also suggested season three would jump forward in time with “a larger time jump than we had between seasons one and two”.

With this in mind, Jack may have already made a full recovery by the time the first episode airs.

The premiere could feature Jack having a hospital check-up or asking police for an update regarding the investigation.

A release date for the new season has not yet been given but fans can hope for the autumn of 2021.

Jack actor Henderson appears to be at home in New Zealand right now, according to his Instagram account.

He shared some snaps of a beautiful beach scene with the caption: “No filter needed”.

Filming for season three finished at the end of 2020 and one viewer suggested the new episodes would arrive in November.

Back in December 2020, Mel actress Breckenridge shared a photo of a chair with ‘Alexandra Breckenridge: Mel Monroe’ on the back.

She simply captioned the image with a black heart emoji, marking the end of an era for the making of season three.

Fans took to Twitter to express their excitement ahead of the third season, with one saying: “Okay but I (shamelessly) need a season 3 of Virgin River @netflix!”

Season two launched in November 2020, so a late November 2021 date is likely for the next instalment.

The new season will also follow Doc Mullins (Tim Matheson) who was about to share some bad news with Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole).

Jack’s friend Preacher (Colin Lawrence) was also left to look after Paige’s (Lexa Doig) son Christopher (Chase Petriw).

Virgin River is streaming on Netflix now.
