Susanna Reid passionately put forward the case for the inquiry into the UK Government to begin immediately rather than being delayed until the pandemic has ended during a fierce clash with Matt Hancock. The Health Secretary agreed it is important for the UK to learn from previous mistakes made.
Ms Reid said: “We don’t want to make any more mistakes.
“One year into lockdown, we do not want to see any other mistakes.
“We need to not at some point in the future [but now] look back and say we must never do that again, we want to do that right now.”
Mr Hancock replied: “Yes in fact I agree with you very strongly we need to do that at all times and so we have.”
