Vladimir Putin's army 'drowning in blood' as Russian troops mowed down in their thousands

Vladimir Putin’s army is “drowning in blood” as it continues to sustain huge daily losses.

The Russian army is intensifying its attacks on Ukrainian positions, as it seeks to drive home its advantage in manpower and weapons.

Over the last few days fierce battles have been raging in the north east of the country near Kharkiv.

Russian troops launched a surprise incursion across the border and succeeded in making rapid advances.

The town of Vovchansk, just 45 miles from Ukraine’s second largest city, has come under intense Russian bombardment.

Russian jets have been firing glide bombs with up to 1,500 kilograms of explosives at Ukrainian positions.

Recent reports claimed that the western and northern parts of Vovchansk had fallen under the Kremlin’s control.

Zelensky’s generals said the situation in Vovchansk had stabilised but troops had to withdraw to new positions near the village of Lukyantsi.

However, the Russian gains have come at a horrifying cost in human lives, with Putin’s army sustaining massive daily casualties.

Ukraine’s military claims the Kremlin’s army lost 1,400 soldiers along with 43 armoured combat vehicles and 28 artillery systems on Monday alone. This loss came just one day after the army saw its worse loss, losing another 1,700 troops.

This means the total number of Russian soldiers killed since the war began in February 2022 now stands at an eye watering 485,430 – according to Ukraine’s General Staff.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Putin of having scant regard for the lives of his own soldiers.

In an interview with the German tabloid BILD he said: “He wants to drown Ukraine in blood, including the blood of his soldiers.”

Today (Tuesday) reports emerged of a Ukrainian drone attack in the Russian region of Volgograd which derailed a freight train.

At the same time a large fire broke out at a military base in the city of Volgograd.

Regional authorities confirmed the fire at the military unit No. 44885, located in the Dzerzhinsky district of the city, but denied its was connected to the drone attack.
