British men’s No 1 Dan Evans bows out in US Open fourth round with a straight-sets loss against second seed Daniil Medvedev at Flushing Meadows

  • Evans reached the fourth round for the first time after beating Alex Popyrin 
  • He lost the first set 6-3 and the second 6-4 before the Russian saw him off 6-3
  • Medvedev matches on and is a threat to Novak Djokovic’s career Grand Slam


British men’s No 1 Dan Evans bowed out of the US Open with a straight-sets defeat against Daniil Medvedev in the fourth round on Sunday evening.

Evans worked hard but in his first ever fourth round appearance at Flushing Meadows was ultimately outclassed and lost 3-6, 4-6, 3-6 against the classy Russian.

Second seed Medvedev now marches on and is the biggest threat to Novak Djokovic’s bid for a career Grand Slam.
