UK travel: Britons urged to plan UK breaks now as train bookings surge by 125 percent

Amid the race to book, Mike Hewitson, head of policy at watchdog Transport Focus, previously warned: “Rail fares are confusing at the best of time – but the coronavirus crisis has made planning worse than ever.

“If you are hoping to hop on to a train this summer you must book now.”

Customers hoping to book using the Trainline app can sign up for special alerts to keep them informed of availability.

Trainline explained: “Those making travel plans can save by booking Advance tickets where available – sign up for Ticket Alerts for updates on the availability of Advance train tickets for your chosen journey.”
