That means an average spend of £82.19 per month on cars, with just £55.48 going to long-suffering other halves.
Among 45-54 year olds the figure increases to a whopping 71 percent more, with Renault drivers actually spending double the amount.
Perhaps unusually, while British men spend 42 percent more than on their other halves, it’s women who lead the way, spending 54 percent more keeping their cars in good order than on their partners.
“We’ve always suspected UK car owners take pride in their vehicles.
But seeing how much they invest in their cars compared to their relationships is interesting,” said Hayley O’Connor, Go Car Credit’s Marketing Manager.
