There was an unexpected reunion before Jackson State football’s season opener on Sunday in Jackson, Mississippi.
Ahead of Deion Sanders’ first game as a college football coach, his former Dallas Cowboys teammate, quarterback Troy Aikman, surprised Sanders on the field with a hug and conversation.
Aikman and Sanders played together on the Cowboys from 1995-99 and won the 1995 Super Bowl.
Aikman, a longtime NFL analyst with Fox Sports, received a COVID-19 test before heading down to the field.
Sanders’ JSU coaching debut was set to kick off at 2 p.m. ET against Edward Waters at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
